Long Walk on the Beach

Last week my aunt was at the Phucket resort in Thailand and took the above picture of her friend walking on the beach. Just imagine, people would have been peacefully walking along the beach just like this when the sudden disaster hit. The latest numbers show around 18,500 in Sri Lanka and more than 55,000 across Asia. They suspect the number will be well over 100,000 once all this is settled. Then the re-building starts…



My boy Fab called me from Italy this morning to find out if all my relatives were alright. I thought that was very nice of him. Luckily, everyone we know [in Sri Lanka] survived, and only one of my father’s aunt’s houses got flooded, so she has been ‘diplaced’. This event has given me a lot to think about in the last couple of days…
