Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I still keep a journal, but a lot of the content lately has been personal or inappropriate to put up for public viewing. Maybe eventually I’ll put up the “uncut” versions! ;)
To answer gems’ question of accommodations: We’ve been in relatively decent accommodations thus far because I’ve been with my grandfather. Being 75, he needs better rooms than us youngsters do. I don’t mind roughing it out and once he’s gone we probably will be in worse conditions. lol The place we’re staying at in the city is very nice. Travelling is a whole different story:
Let’s start with the least difficult part: In terms of beds, it feels like you’re sleeping on the floor on a 2.5″ thick foam mattress. Often the pillows (if there are any) feel like they’re filled with sand or they’re too small. I’ve gotten used to sleeping on my bicep or resting my face in the palm of my hand! ;) What HAS been a little tough to adjust to is that most places here don’t have hot water. My family knows I take 20 min showers in VERY hot water back home. This was tough at first, but I’m also getting accustomed to it little by little. It’s like going swimming: you feel cold at first, but after a couple of minutes your body gets used to it. Toilets: Don’t even get me started. This is the worst part. I would take a picture of one of the bathrooms in the average guesthouse here, but you’d probably be sick. One thing I’ve been saying: “I don’t care if I have to sleep on the floor, but get me a half decent bathroom.” Toilet paper is your best friend. I’ll get into that in an SLTT entry. As I mentioned in my previous entry: I always remember things could always be MUCH worse. :)
I sometimes end on a completely unrelated topic so here’s one: I have about 30 Gmail invitations to give away. I gave a few to the guys out here. I know a lot of you already have accounts, but for those of you who want one, just send me an email. 1GB of space goes a long way and Gmail loads up much quicker than hotmail or yahoo because it’s less graphics intensive.
