Roughest Night

Our driver took the Puttalam road last night after we repeatedly told him not to take it. The road was terrible. This was by far the bumpiest ride we’ve had; the bumps often lifted us out of our seats. When I saw a couple of the buses go by, people were leaning out the windows and throwing up. The driver said he took the road because it was a short cut. We’re definitely not taking this road back even if it takes a couple of extra hours.

We broke rest in Vavuniya before going further north. Eben and I slept in a really ghetto guesthouse and were eaten alive by mosquitoes. I couldn’t sleep. I opened my bag and tried covering myself up with my towel so I wouldn’t get bit. That didn’t work. Kunju ended up sleeping on a chair because he couldn’t sleep. It feels really hot out here.
