Slack time…can’t stand it. I like to get things moving and I usually set very aggressive timelines for myself. I used to shudder when I would hear that a project was scheduled to take 3-5 years. In the corporate world I was always the ‘action’ person: the one who implemented things, the person who got things done. I was very good at getting around all the corporate red tape. Getting around government red tape is a totally different story; there’s so much more of it. One guy has to approve the land acquisition, someone else has to approve the building plans, yet another the materials, bla bla bla. Things move sooooo slowly here and it’s extremely frustrating. The worst part is that this is completely out of my control now.
I’m waiting for the building plans to be approved by the people in Mullaitivu and we should start construction early next week if all goes according to plan. Dr. Wimal (of the Ampara project) got chicken pox, so he’s been out of commission for a while. I’m almost finished my “Aid dB” which organizes regions, refugee camps, volunteers, vehicles, supplies needed/sent, etc.
