I took most of my pics on this day:

07:30 wake up call. I heard the sound of wings flapping and when I turned around there was a random rooster about 2 feet away from me. I refuse to speak to roosters because it’s fowl language…he he. Some of you will get that tomorrow (that’s what you say after you’ve made a terrible joke and no one laughs!). Anyway, here are some other random things (frog+spider) I saw when I woke up.

Around 08:00 the girls get their books ready for school, but before they leave Zippo(rah) helps her mom by sweeping the house. Once the girls leave and after some hand-to-hand combat with hundreds of flies I have my breakfast. Apparently during this season, because of a certain fruit there are lots of flies. Thank God the flies are only there from about 07:30 until 18:00 or so; then the mosquitoes start their shift. I’ll still take mosquitoes over flies buzzing around!!

After eating, Eben and I headed over to the work site. The laborers have already been there for a couple of hours. The foundation is more or less complete. They’re missing the gap that splits the hall from the rooms (seen in pic 2). There needs to be another layer over this one and the gap here where the pillar is (pic 3) will be filled in later this evening. We all have lunch together and take it easy until the evening.

This is Mrs. Lawrance’s shop that was flooded by the Tsunami. She’s had to close it down and will need to take out a big loan if she wishes to reopen the store. This is a potential project after the boats or if the boat project doesn’t turn out the way I expect it to! Kethu(ra), the youngest daughter comes home from school before the other 2 and helps her mom prepare dinner by scraping coconuts for one of the curries. I thought the last pics was a cute because I’m always surprised how Kethu manages to fall asleep anywhere and everywhere! They’re used to sleeping on the floor. I would say I’m about 85% used to it by this point.

Later in the evening Lawrance asked if I wanted to come see how they catch prawns here. I thought it would be neat, so Lawrance, Eben and I got on our bikes and went. Here’s Lawrance getting the net ready. Then he throws it in (please tell me you’re impressed with the precision photography!
), and pulls it back to see what he caught. He says normally you would catch hundreds on a regular night. Unfortunately, here was the catch for this night:

1 small prawn and a fish. Better luck next time! We turned around to go back home and I got a picture of how this place is lit up. It’s nice to see all the torches in the water. There are many more all around. You also get to see our nifty bikes! I miss my car!!!
After this, we went home and had supper. During supper we exchanged stories of old school pranks. It seems that Eben, K and myself were quite the troublemakers in our youth! LOL One good thing, though is that we all got it out of our system and are responsible adults now. Or so I like to believe
This would be a great time to transition into a high school story, but I’ll save that for another day.
Anyway, we had brought a deck of cards this time, so after supper I taught Eben, K and the girls how to play Blackjack and of course, taught them the dangers of gambling in the process…*cough* *cough*. We decided each win would be 1 point and whoever got to 15 first would win. Surprisingly, Kethu is the one who won! After that we setup our beds (read: thin mats and sheets), I lit up a mosquito coil and we all went to bed.
