We all scream for ice cream! Krishan and I went into town to see if we could rent the local ice cream truck. I told them we would be buying about 100 cones so they agreed. K and I got on our bicycles and the truck followed us to the camp. Once we got there we asked the girl who was there if she could call the kids so we could give them all ice cream. I remembered that there was about 75-80 of them from my last trips. She said we had to get permission from the head office. We biked over to the head office who said we had to go see the health officials in the area. WOW. Giving ice cream to some kids sure is complicated here! We then went over to the health official. We met him and said we had some ice cream and he approved. They accompanied us back to the camp where we gave 87 kids ice cream. We had to take a bunch of them out of their tuition class to do it, but I’m sure they were glad we did! :) After we gave the kids ice cream, I went over to the head office and bought ice cream for all the office staff (it never hurts to do a little PR work every once in a while! ;)). Heshani was right, ice cream was quite the treat for all the kids…as a matter of fact, it seemed like a nice treat for all the grownups in the office as well!
