What an experience it is talking to police officers in Sri Lanka. Even here [in Canada], I’m a bit of smart ass when talking to cops and I’m especially bad if I haven’t done anything wrong. Here are a couple of funny incidents that happened to me back in April, two [...] I just came home safely. What a strange feeling to be back in Montreal. It’s strange to think I was gone for 6 months…I’m still getting used to it. My lil’ sis lost my phone so unfortunately I don’t have one. Please send me emails! There’s a lot of you I want to see! After spending 6 months here, I’ve finally managed to book my ticket back to Canada. Here’s the good news: I’ll be landing in Montreal [instead of Toronto]. I had to pay an extra $150 or so, but figured it’s worth it because I’d like the first people I see to be my immediate family! [...] *Transcribed* Eben and I took the overnight bus to Thirukovil, which is in the Ampara district. *Transcribed* “Gama” means “Village” in Sinhala. On the way back to Colombo, we stopped in a place called Cadjugama. Eben and I waited in the car and I noticed a lady on the side of the road waving her hand. I remembered Kunju telling me something about a place where pretty ladies were supposed to be [...] *Transcribed* What a journey…we’ve been travelling non-stop for the past 2 days. We’ve had 5 hours of sleep in 2 days. I’m not going to bore you with the details of travelling on the back of the bus, but as always, NOT FUN! We got delayed at the checkpoints (where I noticed a much heavier military presence [...] *Transcribed* Eben and I caught the night bus to Thirukovil, which is in the Ampara region. This is the area I was supposed to visit a few times but got held up due to a variety of reasons. The bus that was supposed to leave at 19:00 ended up leaving at 20:30 because they were waiting [...] *Transcribed* This morning, Eben and I got up early and headed over to a tourist spot called “World’s End”. It was about a 3 hour motorcycle ride. Whenever we stopped to get directions the locals kept saying we wouldn’t be able to see anything. There was a little old lady sitting next to me and when the bus stopped I asked her if we had reached Hatton. She said “No, eat something.”, because the bus had stopped [...] |
