Hesh insisted that I stay in a really nice hotel at some point before I leave. Last weekend, right after I returned from Mullaitivu we (Hesh, M, D and I) went to The Blue Water hotel in Wadduwa. The Blue Water is part of the Jetwing family of hotels. It was a really nice place and as you can imagine an extremely stark contrast from where I was just 2 days earlier!
Overall, the service was OK. And I mean “OK” by [special] standards I’ve established here. When I went to get a towel for the pool one of the guys asked: “Do you have a room here?” I answered, “Yeah, why?” he just said: “Uh, uh, OK.”. After dinner on the first night, we went to play pool since the hotel had a small bar-like room. Believe it or not, around 23:30, some random kids (aged 6-10) came into the bar and were running around the pool table and making shadow puppets in front of the Karaoke screen. Very bizarre. I wondered: A) Why the hell does hotel management allow kids in bar area? B) What are parents thinking when their kids are running around a bar disturbing everyone!? The last straw was when Hesh and her friend went to the showers before swimming and there was a security guard (conveniently next to the showers) who was making comments. I believe they complained, but do I think something will be done about it? Nope.
I was so exhausted that I really wasn’t in the mood to take pictures, so Hesh got a couple:

The place was really nice, the service could use a little improvement. If you’re curious, there are more pictures on their website (linked above).
