Air Canada

We took the 06:45 flight to Toronto because we wanted to be on the only daytime flight to London which was leaving TO at 09:00 and arrive in London at 21:15 or so. If you see the time of this post, you’ll probably note that I’m obviously not on the aircraft right now. (Yes, I’m pissed off.)

What happened?

The flight only left Montreal at 07:05 due to weather conditions in TO. The TO transit was supposed to be 2 hours, so I figured a 20min delay wasn’t a big deal. The captain even mentioned that connecting flights to London, Mexico and Sault Ste. Marie would be waiting until the MTL passengers arrived. We finally reached the gate at 09:05. I was hoping a pretty air hostess would be saying: “Welcome Aboard!” . Wrong. The plane had left! Since this is the ONLY daytime flight, the next one is at 18:15. Yeah, a 9 hour inconvenience.

What did they do about it?

Well, they offered us all $5 for breakfast and $8 for lunch. LOL They claimed that they didn’t even have to do that because Air Canada can’t control the weather and bla bla bla. I called my father (he works at Dorval) to see what kind of compensation we might expect. He said: “Meal vouchers.” ha ha ha. Having worked in customer service, I thought I’ll try my luck.

By the end of the discussion, I was speaking to the manager who said he couldn’t give us a cash discount on the tickets, but we’re now in the Maple Leaf (business class) lounge, I managed to get my grandfather and grandmother upgraded to business class AND he told me I can come back for as many meal vouchers as I would like! LOL

In the End…

Of course, I’m still annoyed that I’m stuck here for 9 hours, but such is life…I’ll try and make the best of it. Maybe I’ll take some pics of this place to entertain myself! :)
