I’m leaving to Texas in a few hours to compete in the International Business Challenge, which, this year, is sponsored by Caterpillar, Deloitte, Ford, GE and Philip Morris. Some of the best business schools from around the globe will be competing and JMSB is sending a team of 4 of us down. “We pick 4 from an already elite group” … I loved that!!!
The competition involves a 60 hour preparation time compared to 3 for Commerce Games and 5 for ICBC. What does this mean? An EXTREMELY detailed analysis of the case. The format is also something new to me: After the 60 hours, you give a 5 minute presentation followed by 15-20 minutes of questioning and then a 5 minute summation. As you can imagine, if the questions don’t go the way you expect/intend the last 5 minutes can prove to be quite tricky!
We’ve put in quite a bit of work in the last month and I’m really excited to be going. I probably won’t be able to update the blog while I’m doing my prep, but I’ll see if I can get some pics on the first day there. Right now I’m waiting for my laundry to finish so I can start packing.
Wish me luck!!
