Second Day in Texas

Yesterday we met at the airport at 06:30, took a plane to Chicago, had about a 45 min break and came to Austin. The city is pretty nice, not very densely populated but it is a university town, so it should be fun. I was expecting it be a little warmer but they’re having a cold front right now (cold front = 15 – 20 degrees!). After we arrived at the Doubletree we setup our “command center” and unpacked. Well, some people unpacked! :)

For supper, prof. Haber recommended we try out a local Brisket place (Ruby’s BBQ)which was very good. It took us about 40 minutes to walk there, but it was good! Brisket it something like smoked meat, but I can’t really explain it.

Later that night we got bored so we (JMSB) decided to make ourselves the ‘unofficial’ welcoming committee and waited around the lobby greeting other schools. Unfortunately, there are no ’spirit’ points at this event, but regardless, JMSB’s alway got spirit!! :)

Today we’ve got a campus tour at 14:00 and we’ll be getting our cases at the opening dinner tonight. I’m leaving for a jog with one of my teammates in a few minutes and I’ll do my best to post something before I get the case afterwhich I will not be able to post! :)

Team pic taken in Montreal before getting on the plane. L-R: Bento, Prof. Haber, myself, Elissa and Chris. We walked around O’Hare airport and took another picture.

Our rooms are the size of a small apartment including a kitchenette! I wasn’t sure if Elissa had brought enough shoes…(these aren’t even all of them!). She neatly unpacked her things into the drawers…

I neatly unpacked my things into other areas of my suitcase…
