I Finally Bought Some Books

It appears that second-hand stores are quite popular here in Sweden. In Montreal I can only think of Village des Valeurs where most of the stuff is crap. These stores sometimes have some decent stuff. I went to Myrorna a few days ago with some of my corridor mates. I hoped they would have English books and they did; lots of them! I picked up the following 4 books for a total of $20. :D

Leadership – Rudolph W. Giuliani

After reading Winning by Jack Welch (former CEO of GE), I realized that leadership books written by PROVEN leaders are much better than books written by academics. Yes, the theories are similar, but these real world leaders (not some random researcher or Ph.D.) give practical examples of what works and what does not. For those who may not know: Guiliani was the mayor of NYC during the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Executive EQ – Robert Cooper Ph.D.

The cover looked interesting and I’ve always been interested in developing my EQ more than my IQ. There’s an EQ test in the book, so I’ll try it out and see how I rank! ;)

World of Strange Phenomena – Charles Berlitz

This book is a collection of short stories about documented paranormal events. There are some REALLY weird/freaky incidents in this book. I might post some excerpts from the book to see what some of you think of it.

Ancient Eastern Philosophy for Beginners

I couldn’t find this book on Amazon.com, but it’s similar to this one. I’m almost finished reading it. It’s actually very interesting to compare Eastern (Buddhism/Hinduism) vs. Western (Christian) culture and philosophy. It’s great because the “for beginners” series lays out complex subjects in a comic book format so it’s much easier to understand the concepts. I had previously read Quantum Physics for beginners (which I can’t find on Amazon either!), so I knew this would be a good book.
