Turning 25: The Countdown

Let’s see if I can finally step back into the blogosphere for a little while…

Several of my friends and I were born in 1982. This means that the time has finally come for us to turn 25 and my turn is coming up in less than 2 days… This is somewhat of the crossing point when you’re now expected to act like an adult. I haven’t quite figured out what “being an adult” means exactly, but I’m working on it! ;)

I realize it’s not THAT big a deal, but somehow hitting the quarter-century mark has got me thinking about a lot of different things in terms of where I’ve been, where I am and where I’m going in life. I’ve been told by some of my older [and presumably wiser] friends and family that as you get older you ponder these things more frequently. Things such as: relationships, personal development, health, finances, career goals/objectives, what I really want to do, whether I’ve accomplished enough, growing up, expected behaviour, etc., etc.

How did you feel when you turned 25? Or how do you feel about turning 25?

Absolute and utter dread as far as I’m concerned. Even turning 24 doesn’t seem enticing. Pretty soon it#ll be time for bifocals and anti-wrinkle cream. Siiigh….

Darwin – Ha ha, believe me, it’s not that bad… ;) lol

I know girls who are 23 and already use anti-wrinkle cream. Apparently it’s good to start early??

    Wow, that’s bizarre…

Somehow it’s logged me in as “ian” and not the1truecoolguy… I think the PC is catching on to me being old as well! :P Let me try something different…

Aaah.. my 25th.. I was kinda sad that after this one, I’d be closer to 30 than 20! (Happy B’day Ian btw) so I did what I usually do when faced with a crisis.. I threw a party!
And yes, you tend to think (period..?) more of things in terms of the future and the past.. well at least I did.. (where am I headed? What are my long-term goals? Have I made a difference – a good one – in anyone’s life ? What have I done during this time on earth and more importantly – How the heck did I get so old.. and why didn’t someone warn me!)
Ps – I’m not sure if ‘being an adult’ is a one-step transition.. I think it’s a (for some – a lifelong one) process that doesn’t really have a set time-frame..
    :)

Hey #1 cool guy ! It’s too late to wish you a happy birthday, but not too late to wish you a happy 26th year ! Indeed, you’re older than you think. =)

On my end, I can’t tell you how it feels to be 25 because I’m too old and can’t remember how it was..

Hope to hear from you soon !

It is scary age. I am 26 now but when i turned 25 it really hit me and made me think of what i have accomplished and where i need to go. Then i realized i spent to much time thinking rather than just living it. ….. I guess it’s true when they say “….time and tide waits for no one” and ” But i think if we are happy with our life and do our best each day in reaching our goals than we don’t worry about our age as much, it’s not the years but the journey.

    Two cliches for you:

After 25 it’s all downhill from there.

age is nothing but a number
