You have 2 ears and 1 mouth, so keeping to that ratio, you should be doing twice as much listening as talking. Anyone who knows me at all knows that I talk A LOT. My ratio is probably closer to 2 ears and 4 (maybe 5) mouths.
I’ve come to realize though, that in serious discussions, you’re probably better off doing the listening (and limiting the talking), because you can get a clearer picture of the situation rather than just reinforcing your position.
Lol! I used to be a big talker, now I much prefer to listen and suss someone out before going on a yapping-spree.
Good post Ian,BTW if i can give a plug for an ex.Montrealer she sings on youtube, her name is Sheena Melwani ,thank you and all the best!!!bro.jack
hmm.. i’m more of a listener….
and analyser… and well, very opinionated too…hehee..
Darwin – Ha! Yes, I think when we met up I did most of the talking!
I suppose you were busy sussing me out!
BJ – Thanks!
LD – A listener, analyzer and very opinionated…so when do you voice your opinions?
This is so true i have to keep that in mind myself.
…And then there are some who don’t even have 1 ear.
Erica – I’M definitely the one who has to keep this in mind the most I’m sure!
Dan T – Good point!!! Ha ha
Good post, we get older and wiser they say..
PS – Whilst reading this post, I had a mental picture of you with 4 mouths (couldn’t think of a place to fit the 5th one)
BM – Ha ha! Someone with even 4 mouths would probably be quite scary!!
