The civil war in Sri Lanka between GoSL (government of Sri Lanka) and LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) forces came to a bloody end in May 2009. According to the latest USAID report, there are still over 270,000 Sri Lankan Tamils in IDP camps. My father went to Sri Lanka for his mother’s funeral. I didn’t know her that well, but I’m glad I got see her before she passed away. My condolences to the other Selvarajah’s reading this. My instant reaction was utter shock that his father was murdered. It took me a split second to remember that Ragi’s dad was Lakshman Kadirgamar, Sri Lanka’s foreign minister. YIKES! I think that’s quite the compliment for my aunt! She thought it was really gross! Although her friends said: [...] The results of the 11th blood test came back with some really high levels in my liver enzymes. While I was in the hospital last week, the levels were normal (in the 30s) then they went up to 90, 160 and now 200 something. I don’t really know what it means but they said it [...] Not once did I get [even slightly] sick while I was in Sri Lanka. It looks like the 6 months I spent there finally took its toll. I got in and was perfectly fine for two days then my body decided to shutdown. I just spent the last 5 days in hospital; seems I gave [...] |
